So what is 95 Revolutions? Think Field of Dreams meets an episode of Twilight Zone, if it were directed by Edgar Wright.
Lydia, a teenager obsessed with the '90s, decides to end her life on New Year's Eve. However, her plans take an unexpected turn when she discovers a vinyl record that allows her to travel back in time to a Hacienda-style nightclub. The catch: she can only stay for the duration of the 95 revolutions the record spins, just under three minutes. Now torn between her desperate desire to verify the reality of the nightclub and her conviction to end her life before the New Year, Lydia, accompanied by her newfound friend, the Grim Reaper, embarks on a journey to make sense of it all.
As a writer who has battled their own demons of depression, I have channelled my personal experiences into crafting a narrative that delves into the intricate realms of mental health and depression. 95 Revolutions tackles these weighty subjects with a blend of dry humour and profundity, providing readers with a fresh and engaging perspective and an exciting journey with lots of twists and turns. Ultimately, the novel carries a powerful message: that no one should ever be disqualified from happiness. Even in life’s darkest moments, when the prospect of happiness may seem remote, it remains within reach – sometimes even in the most unlikely of hiding spots.
